Island Sands Cafe takes the cake

WHEN it comes to great service, Island Sands Cafe has it down pat.

The Tannum Sands cafe was on Saturday evening awarded the first-ever Best in Service award at The Rock Building Society 2010 Tourism Business Awards, held at the Gladstone Entertainment Centre.

Proudly sponsored by The Observer, the award was designed to recognise a business local customers felt offered exceptional customer service and helped promote the Gladstone region to local and international visitors.

And it seems the service offered by owners Tony and Sue Daley and their staff came up tops.

After opening the cafe in August 2009, the Daleys have built their business on providing “good people with good food, good coffee and good service”.

Although not in attendance at the awards ceremony on Saturday night, this latest accolade is another honour the business can add to its ever-growing belt.

A total of 26 local businesses were nominated for the award including chemists, newsagencies, clothing stores, fitness centres and restaurants, to name a few.
