Is this Bundy's most romantic fella?

WHEN Michael Grigg proposed to Madison Williams on the beach along the Bargara esplanade last year, it captured the hearts of local residents.

With the words "Marry me?" scrawled in the sand, passers-by captured the moment and social media went into meltdown over the beautiful proposal.

Now Mr Grigg is talking all things love and giving blokes and ladies some tips for Valentine's Day.

"I was taught from a young age to always treat a woman like a princess, even if it's only the little things like always opening the door for her," he said.

"For Valentine's Day this year, six months ago I booked us in for a restaurant that Madison has never been into but has always wanted to and requested that we have our dinner under candlelight."

Mr Grigg said his biggest belief was to keep social media out of the relationship as much as possible.

"Communication is the hardest part of a relationship, but it is vital for a healthy relationship," he said.

And for those wanting to propose? It's the thought that counts, says Mr Grigg.

"Before mum passed away, she raised me to be a romantic, which I believe is a lost trait to many people these day," he said.

"Whether you are a guy or girl, the important thing is to always have your mind open because you never know when your partner may drop a hint about what they like.

"I came up with the idea to propose on the beach near sunset because I wanted somewhere nice and easy to access. After all, cheap doesn't necessarily mean bad if the thought has been put into it.

"It's best to do it before sunset and you have to make sure they are ready for it; the last thing you want is for your partner to feel like you have rushed into it.

"The ring doesn't matter as much as the thought, because if they love you and you love them you don't need an expensive ring to showcase that love.

"Add a touch of romanticism; book their favourite restaurant, go somewhere with an amazing view and make sure you dress nicely."

Mr Grigg says it's important to have a plan, because that shows you are committed.

"Show romance by being old-school and asking her parents for their blessing. It is important to have a good relationship with your partner's family," he said.

"Keep old-school traits and traditional values as these days they are underrated.

"Also never propose by text message."
