ANTHONY Joshua would appear to be getting close to peak condition for his world super-heavyweight showdown with Wladimir Klitschko.

An Instagram shot posted by the 27-year-old IBF champion suggests fight fans at Wembley on April 30 (AEST) will see the battling Brit in ripped-roaring body mode for his eagerly-awaited title defence.

Joshua captioned the photo: "Working out on the heavy bag."

There is a lot at stake: the fight will also be for the vacant IBO and WBA belts.

Judging from his latest pose, Joshua is deep in training and completely focused on outgunning his Ukrainian opponent, who will be 41 on March 25.

Former Olympic gold medallist Joshua is undefeated after 18 pro fights, all won by knockouts.

Klitschko is his toughest test to date after 64 wins in 21 years as a pro.

But Klitschko hasn't fought since losing the WBO title to Tyson Fury on points in November, 2015, and could well be ring rusty after almost 18 months on the sidelines.

Interest in the Wembley fight is global: 80,000 tickets were sold out in a few hours and promoter Eddie Hearn requested 5,000 more.

Joshua has predicted he will win by knockout - and he will attract plenty of backers for that result.

Only fellow Brit Dillian Whyte got anywhere near to giving Joshua a decent fight and he was eventually toppled in the seventh round.

Last time out Joshua beat Eric Molina in December with an impressive third round knockout with the outcome always looking a forgone conclusion.
