Man fighting for life after Warrego Hwy crash

UPDATE: A man seriously injured in a crash west of Toowoomba has been listed as being in a critical but stable condition.

Initial reports suggest the man swerved to miss a cow before crashing into a tree just before 3am today.

The Surat Gas Aero-Medical Service helicopter flew the man from the scene to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane

The man, aged in his 40s, suffered suspected multi-trauma injuries and possible leg and arm injuries, but remained conscious.

He was trapped in the vehicle for some time before being freed by rescue crews on the ground.

EARLIER: A man has been airlifted by helicopter to Royal Brisbane Hospital this morning after sustaining serious injuries in a single vehicle crash west of Toowoomba.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said crews were called to the scene on the Warrego Hwy about 15km east of Yuleba just before 3am.

The man remained trapped in the wreckage for some hours and had sustained multiple fractures including chest injuries.

It has been reported the vehicle he was driving collided with a cow.

He was eventually freed by emergency crews and was being transported by helicopter from the scene about 7am.
