Gladstone needs more industry, Mayor Rowel says

ROWEL Panugaling wants more industry and wants it now.

Mr Panugaling said if he was mayor he would create more jobs for the local people.

"We need more plants and more refineries," he said. "These places offer people a great job with good people."

Mr Panugaling has been in Gladstone for five years and is grateful for all the opportunities the city has given him.

His first job was working in a factory and he has had many jobs since.

"I'm pretty happy with the experience I have been able to get here in Gladstone," he said.

"I now work at an oil refinery and I really enjoy my work."

He admits the council does a good job keeping the beaches clean.

"In the summer when it's hot I like going to the beaches because they are nice," he said.

"But on my days off I mainly clean the house and car."
