DESPITE grey skies and the threat of rain ruining the day, yesterday's final day of the Industries of Gladstone 20-20 Cricket Challenge finished with resounding success.

The highlight was Australian Survivor star Lee Carseldine attempting to hit 60 runs in 60 seconds.

But his efforts fell short, but he still managed 45 runs.

"The wicket was seaming up a little because it was a bit damp," Carseldine said.

As for the winner of the battle of the industries, QAL topped the list with 236 runs the team scored on Saturday, narrowly ahead of BSL on 230 runs on the back of Jason Batchelor's record-breaking 105.

Orica took bragging rights over QGC to win by 36 runs yesterday - 161 runs to 125 runs.

QGC batsman Greg Purdon enjoyed the experience to play alongside Ryan Broad who helped out in yesterday's match.

"It's great to see these high level of players," Purdon.

"I wasn't nervous because it's all for fun and not serious."

Team-mate Adam 'Eddie' Irvine always looks forward to this event despite not playing cricket seriously since 2007.

"We have a laugh with all the boys from work and it was great to see my mate Daniel Green from Orica make a golden duck," Irvine laughed.

Green agreed.

"It was nice and casual with a bit of banter out there," he said.
