Inconsistency costly as Yaralla meets Frenchville
AN inconsistent batting performance has kept Yaralla from really challenging Frenchville in the latest round of the Capricornia Cricket Challenge.
Despite a ninth-wicket partnership worth 54 runs between Trent Sorohan and Andrew Bianchi, Yaralla were still only able to limp to all out for 164.
It was not enough though, a classy Frenchville top-order cruising to victory with the loss of only two wickets.
Yaralla's day could have been much better though, a very quick start from Dylan Cross brightening the moods in the sheds.
Cross was soon sitting down with his team mates and fellow out batsman Prem Abbugar though, a quick fire 24 not establishing enough momentum to really make a difference as Yaralla were 2/29.
The match settled down soon after, the Gladstone side getting to 2/57 and looking likely to build a good total behind the steady batting of Aaron Barrett.
The wheels came off soon after, Yaralla losing their next six wickets for 39 runs.
The only saving grace to a decent total was the work from Bianchi and Sorohan.
The hosts then took only two wickets through captain Chris Bye and never looked in the hunt as Frenchville's Brent and Lachlan Hartley made headway early to guarantee the win.
- Andrew Bianchi - 48
- Trent Sorohan - 29
- Dylan Cross - 24
- Chris Bye - 2/31
