Illustrating her talent

STUDENTS 'oohed' and 'ahhhed' at award-winning illustrator Anne Spudvilas' work.

The kids were captivated by her illustrations in many of their favourite books.

She engaged students as she presented the process of illustrating books.

Ms Spudvilas explained what inspired her when creating illustrations with oils, inks and pastels.

She showed one of her most famous works in the picture book version of Mao's Last Dancer, The Peasant Prince.

Anne told the students of how she went to China to see where the book was set and gained valuable background material.

She explained how the pictures and text work together.
