Ice skating in Gladstone continues during Winter Olympics

ICE skating at the Gladstone Entertainment and Convention Centre marquee will continue until February 24 to celebrate the Winter Olympics.

The Winter Magic Ice Skating rink had originally been scheduled to close on Sunday, after giving Gladstone residents and visitors a cool place to be over summer.

The travelling ice rink offers ice skating and tobogganing on real ice.

Business owner Michael Lalic and partner Lorraine Malone have been thrilled to share the magic of the ice.

"Kids in regional centres don't often get the opportunity to try ice skating," Ms Malone said in December.

"It's a skill that builds confidence for a lot of children, and for those under 5 years, we have tobogganing as well."

Evening sessions will be held on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 7.30pm to 9pm, with daytime sessions on Saturday and Sunday at 10am, noon, 2pm and 4pm.
