Crossbow and ice land man behind bars
BUYING a crossbow and smoking ice led to Adrian Jeffrey McMillan being sentenced to six months in jail after he pleaded guilty to a number of drug and other offences in Gladstone Magistrates Court last week.
The court heard McMillan was seen by police receiving a crossbow on April 18, and when police searched his car they found the restricted weapon.
He admitted to police that he paid $150 for the crossbow.
McMillan again came to police attention on April 29 when his vehicle was stopped for a random breath test.
A search of McMillan's vehicle revealed two small clip-seal bags with white clear substances inside and another similar bag.
Police also found a glass pipe which McMillan said he used to smoke ice.
Electronic scales were also found.
Then on May 5 McMillan was found by police driving while his licence was disqualified.
He was issued with a notice to provide his identifying particulars within seven days but failed to do so.
McMillan's defence lawyer said his client was running somewhat wild but that he had time in custody to reflect on his life.
Magistrate Penelope Hay said McMillan had shown wilful disregard of the court's order.
He was sentenced to six months' imprisonment, disqualified from driving for two and a half years and fined $600.
