Corruption watchdog not finished with Eddie Obeid

THE corruption watchdog has revealed it is not yet finished with former NSW Labor powerbroker Eddie Obeid and this time members of the O'Farrell Government have been added to the mix.

The Independent Commission Against Corruption announced on today that it would hold an inquiry, beginning March 17, into the actions of public officials with an interest in the Obeid-linked company Australian Water Holdings.

Operation Credo was set up to investigate allegations officials obtained financial benefit through "adversely affecting functions of Sydney Water Corporation by inflating charges and deliberately preventing SWC from ascertaining whether the charges were justifiable".

It will also be alleged that in 2010, Mr Obeid, former Labor MP Joe Tripodi and Anthony Kelly MLC, "misused their positions as members of parliament to attempt to influence public officials to exercise their official functions with respect to the AWH public private partnership proposal".

A second inquiry, beginning on April 28, will examine whether members of parliament corruptly solicited, received and concealed payments from various sources in return for favouring the interest of those responsible for the payments.

Former NSW Energy Minister Chris Hartcher and his fellow Central Coast MPs -Chris Spence and Darren Webber will be called to give evidence.
