I-Spy the name of Heron Island’s new submarine

AFTER much deliberation the name for Heron Island's new submarine has been chosen.

I-Spy trumped hundreds of competition entries to become the name of Heron Island's new vessel, which will allow visitors to see Great Barrier Reef marine life without getting wet.

Along with naming rights, competition winner Paul Green is setting off on I-Spy's maiden voyage and will enjoy two nights on Heron Island with $300 resort credit to spend.

Hundreds of entries were received in the competition including several Beatles-inspired names such as Ringo Starfish and Sgt Pepper.

The naming competition was run as a joint promotion by Heron Island and The Observer.
