Leaping for Lincoln Lewis: 'I near jumped the counter'

WHEN Lincoln Lewis walked through the doors at Woodman's Axe this morning, barista Terri'Lee Sharpe "was like an 11-year-old at a Justin Beiber concert".

"I near jumped the counter," Ms Sharpe said.

While the other three staff knew Lincoln Lewis' father, NRL legend Wally Lewis, they didn't recognise the movie star, who was in town to promote his new movie "Spin Out".

"They thought he was a family member or something," Ms Sharpe said.

"Then Lincoln told them we've been dating online for three years!"

Mr Lewis was last in Mackay for the Beach Horse Racing Festival last year.

Prior to his arrival in town yesterday, he travelled to Townsville where he'd hoped to see the North Queensland Cowboys training.

The Townsville Bulletin reported that although his dad had played for the Broncos, Mr Lewis barracked for the Cowboys.

But, it reported his request to see the training session was denied.

"I got the publicist to call the guys at the Cowboys and I said 'If they're training today, can I just go watch?' That's what I wanted to do when I had my two hours off," he said.

"And they called and just said 'nup, it's finals, everyone's in lockdown'.

"I don't want it to sound like getting on the bandwagon¦ but I friggin' love the Cowboys."
