Fishing with ... Brandon: "I catch and dad unhooks"

Name: Brandon Butcher

Occupation: Student

Getting any bites? We just got here and I've had a couple bites, but no fish. I'm using prawns for bait. It's busy down here today.

How long have you been fishing for? I only started fishing six months ago when my dad took me out in Brisbane. We moved to Gladstone four months ago and he has been working on the boat since we came up here. It's easier to catch fish in the boat.

What do you like about fishing? You just get to sit down outside and relax. It's pretty good.

What's the biggest fish you have ever caught? Back when I was about five I caught a bream about 30cm, that was the biggest. Since I've been in Gladstone it would be a 20cm whiting.

Did you take it home and eat it? Nah I don't touch fish. I can catch them but I can't touch them. I have to take them over to dad and he takes them off the hook. I got it from mum she can't touch them either.

What advice would you give a novice fisherman? I would just say keep your line in the water.
