Army trucks waiting to be loaded

MOTORISTS driving down Glenlyon Rd the past two days could be forgiven for thinking Gladstone was under military invasion.

Rest easy Gladstone, nothing could be further from the truth.

On the Meteors' sports field opposite Tondoon Botanic Gardens, a large formation of army vehicles was parked in impressive unison.

The rows were dead straight and the corners made perfect right angles.

Australian Defence Force Captain Margaret Nichols said the vehicles were parked at the ground after completion of Exercise Hamel at the Shoalwater Bay near Rockhampton.

Capt Nichols said they were waiting to be loaded on a ship for transportation back to Darwin.
