Hunt to tackle TAC Cup side

BITS Saints dynamic midfielder Dan Hunt makes his debut for the Queensland Under-18s team on Saturday, flying out from Brisbane tomorrow bound for the AFL heartland, Melbourne, and a match against a TAC side.

Chosen earlier this month, Hunt’s talent is such his selection came after minimal game time with the Gold Coast Scorpions and missing a training camp due to injury.

While continuing to train regularly with his teammates, Hunt’s fitness regimen has been bolstered by a program given to him by Queensland Under-18s

"I’ve been doing extra strengthening work and my fitness level is good," he said.

Although he sustained a knee injury in a practice match earlier this year which threatened to curtail his footy this season,

Hunt, the only country-based player to make the grade, is in his third season with BITS Saints senior side.

Club president Damon Stebbings said he and the club were ecstatic the onballer’s talents had been recognised at state level, and making the Queensland was an exceptional feat for a regional player.

"We’re very proud of Dan’s achievement and we’re right behind any player who takes the step to another level," he said.
