WATCH: Hunt has hand in AFLW goal of the year contender

AFL: BOYNE Island's Megan Hunt had another solid outing for the undefeated Brisbane Lions AFLW side, while having a hand in a Goal of the Year contender, as the Lions crushed Greater Western Sydney by 34 points over the weekend.

The Lions won 6.7 (43) to 1.3 (9) in front of 3500 fans at the South Pines Sports Complex in Brendale on Brisbane's northside to remain undefeated after four rounds of the inaugural AFL Women's Competition.

Hunt fired a bullet-like handball to Kaitlyn Ashmore on the half-forward flank, who then had her initial kick smothered by Giants' player Renee Tomkins, but Ashmore received a fortuitous bounce and toed the ball ahead to her advantage.

She then determinately chased down her own neat work, soccering the Sherrin towards the goal mouth from deep in the right-forward pocket, managing to thread the needle to score from an almost impossible angle.

Lions AFLW coach Craig Starcevich said he thought Ashmore was trying to centre the ball towards the goal square but received a lucky bounce.

"I think Kaitlyn will probably claim she was trying to kick it off the ground and dribble it through," Starcevich said.

While Ashmore's goal was one for the highlights reel, Hunt had another influential performance in the centre of midfield.

The BITS Saints junior finished with seven disposals, including five handballs and two kicks, also taking one mark and making four tackles.

The 34-point win sees Brisbane maintain top spot on the AFLW ladder, but Adelaide can regain the lead on percentage, pending the outcome of their match in Fremantle played last night.

Brisbane will face a tough road trip in Round 5 when they face the Crows in Adelaide on Saturday.
