Hunt for allegedly abducted autistic boy turns to Coast

CONCERNS are held for an autistic boy who was allegedly abducted in Sydney by a family member and believed to have been brought to the Sunshine Coast.

Missing posters for six-year-old Mathew Papalia have been posted around Maroochydore.

A person close to the family said Mathew allegedly had been taken while in Sydney in early January.

The person, who does not want to be named, said the boy and his abductor were believed to have arrived at Brisbane Airport on January 14.

The alleged female abductor's mobile phone was later tracked to Palmwoods. It has now been switched off.

"I'm pretty traumatised," the person said.

"He (Matthew) has autism so he needs routine.''

Police have issued a warrant for the woman's arrest.
