Abbott and Newman expected to attend cattle king's funeral
HUNDREDS of chairs have been trucked in to seat the 2000-plus family members, friends, guests and VIPs, including Prime Minister Tony Abbott, expected to flock to Paradise Lagoons for Graeme Acton's funeral.
Premier Campbell Newman will also be among the VIP guests attending the service at Mr Acton's rural property Paradise Lagoons.
Spokesman Ian Lovegrove said Mr Acton's family wanted guests to be at Paradise Lagoons before 1pm.
Proceedings were likely to be underway at 1pm and the family wanted everyone to be seated promptly.
Mr Lovegrove said a stage was being built at the main arena, where Mr Acton's body would remain for the entire service.
"The event will be discreetly but heavily secured ... police from Gracemere and Rockhampton, plus federal officers will also be in attendance," Mr Lovegrove said.
SES workers will marshal cars to their parks and guests will have the opportunity to sign a guest book before the service.
The funeral will be held on Monday, May 19, at 1pm.
Members of the public are welcome.
