Human skull fragment discovered at popular tourist spot

A SKULL fragment has been discovered in the Cape Hillsborough National Park.

The fragment was found on Sunday morning between Smalleys Beach and Ball Bay Creek.

A spokesman for Queensland Police said they could confirm it was part of a human skull, but they did not know the age, gender or the circumstances surrounding the skull's location and how long it had been there.

The skull fragment has been sent away for forensic testing.
