Human remains found in wreckage

UNIDENTIFIED human remains were found amongst the wreckage at a crash site in Bajool yesterday afternoon.

The crash involving an Army truck and B-Double occurred on Wednesday afternoon and it was originally believed that everyone had been accounted for.

The unidentified body was discovered by workers in the clean up crew at about noon yesterday.

The age and gender of the deceased is unknown to police at this time.

Injured passengers were flown to the Rockhampton Hospital on Wednesday and have since been confirmed that they are in a stable condition.

It was confirmed from the department of defence that only two soldiers were travelling in the army vehicle – they are both set to make full recoveries.

The Bruce Highway was closed throughout the night and Gladstone police said the highway was closed intermittingly until 2pm yesterday for extensive clean-ups.

Traffic was backed up either side of the crash causing extreme delays throughout yesterday morning.

Investigations are continuing to identify the remains and anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
