How to beat your daughter at Instagram
INSTEAD of disparaging the selfie obsessed youth of his daughter's generation, this dad took a decidedly different tact. And it is hilarious.
YOUR average dad these days might be forgiven for decrying the seemingly endless procession of selfies taken by his daughter.
But Chris Burr Martin isn't your average dad.
Instead of disparaging the selfie-obsessed youth of his daughter's generation, he's taken a decidedly different tact which can be summed up as: If you can't beat them, join them.
Last year he began replicating his daughter Cassie's salacious selfies after he was reportedly shocked by the provocative photos she was posting online.
The Instagram account of the father from Washington, United States went viral and he quickly surged past the number of followers his daughter had en route to enjoying a bit of internet fame.
And more than a year later the so called "selfie dad" is still at it, occasionally posting photos lampooning his progeny, even drawing on fake tattoos, wearing fake piercings and fake eyebrows to pull it off.
And the internet's favourite father is also dishing out lessons about online civility, reminding his 142,000 followers it's all an exercise in love.
"Cassie has been getting a lot of hate mail lately, so as a reminder, this was a lesson about social media AND having a little fun with my family. If you can't be kind to her, please unfollow me. It's about love, not hate," he wrote.
