House Rules winner rules new TV role
ADAM Dovile is settling into his new life as the newest addition to the Better Homes and Gardens team.
The House Rules winner moved from Melbourne to Sydney with his partner Lisa to take up the job on the long-running lifestyle show.
"Even for me to say I'm a part of the team is still crazy," Adam tells APN.
"I'm just a normal bloke who had a construction company, just working every day like everyone else, and I got this phone call and was asked if I wanted to join the team.
"Hopefully I'm getting a little bit better talking in front of the camera; that's the hardest part."
He and Home and Away actress Demi Harman joined the show last year. Adam takes up the position of resident builder following the departure of Rob Palmer.
"It's like your sister or your cousin has a new boyfriend and someone else is coming into the family," says Jason Hodges.
"I've worked out Adam is the baby of the show and Demi is the babe.
"We're like a dysfunctional family. I went up to Harry's farm and stayed a couple of days and I still can't believe Dr Harry is my friend. He's Aussie as.
"Jo's the same age as me but I see her as a role model. She's like a big sister to look up to."
The landscaper has been with the show 15 years, starting out as part of the crew before moving in front of the camera 12 years ago.
"It just doesn't wear thin," Jason says.
"If mum and dad and the kids are going to sit down, tuck into their fish 'n chips on a Friday night and watch us, when there are a million options compared to when I was a kid, then it's a massive compliment."
This week on the show, Adam and Jason team up to create the ultimate outdoor entertaining area including an over-the-top water feature.
Host Johanna Griggs will also visit the home of My Kitchen Rules favourites Robert and Lynzey.
The father-and-daughter duo will open up their Texan-inspired Blue Mountains home and cook one of their family recipes.
Better Homes and Gardens airs tonight at 7pm on Channel 7.
