House fire destroys Clinton home, cause of blaze unknown

A GLADSTONE family made a lucky escape from a house fire on Saturday night, which caused severe damage to their Clinton home.

Multiple fire crews were called out about 5.20pm to the blaze in Keppel Ave, Clinton. It was initially reported that all persons had vacated the building.

Fire crews managed to contain and extinguish the blaze by 8pm.

The cause for the fire is unknown. A spokesman from Queensland Fire and Rescue Service said there would be no further investigations.

With more house fires occurring during the winter months than any other time of year, the QFRS is urging Gladstone residents to develop and practise a fire escape plan.
