House burns down after auction

1863 - Toolooa House, former residence of the Government Resident, Sir Maurice Charles O'Connell, was sold at auction. Situated at Barney Point, the house was destroyed by fire on August 15, 1873.
1929 - Celebrating their Golden Wedding anniversary are Mr and Mrs James Friend. James Friend, second son of Henry Friend of Gladstone, married Ellen Matilda Prizeman, second daughter of William Benjamin Prizeman, on 10 September 1879. They were married at St Saviour's Church Gladstone by the Rev EG Moberly.
1935 - A very pretty wedding was celebrated on Tuesday, September 10 at St Joseph's Cathedral Rockhampton, when Elizabeth, youngest daughter of the late Mr J Diamond and Mrs Diamond, of Koongal, was married to William George, only son of Mr and Mrs HJ Otty, Gladstone. Miss Clara Jeffries was the attendant bridesmaid, while Mr Colin Connolly fulfilled the duties of best man. The wedding breakfast was held at Stewart's Café.
1961 - Engagement - Congratulations and best wishes are being received by one of the Observer staff, Miss Joan Weiss, on the announcement of her engagement to Mr George Mackay, Callemondah, Calliope. Joan is wearing a lovely solitaire diamond set in platinum.
