An 84-year-old Perth man is fighting for life in hospital after being bashed in an "abhorrent" random attack outside his home on Sunday night.

WA Police are still on the hunt for two young men, believed to be aged between 25 and 30, behind a violent rampage across multiple suburbs between 6pm and 8pm on August 16.

Emiliano Lombardi went to investigate a disturbance outside his home on Henry Street in East Cannington at about 7pm when he was viciously attacked by the two men, who beat him with a mirror broken off his own car.

Shocking photographs were released by WA Police that show Mr Lombardi covered in blood with serious head and facial injuries.

Paramedics fought to keep the elderly victim alive while police searched for the attackers.

He was taken to Royal Perth Hospital where he was placed in an induced coma.

"This is an 84-year-old man who has lived in this suburb for 40 years," WA Police acting Detective sergeant Alexandra Hill told a press conference on Tuesday.

"He's come out of his address to investigate a disturbance … he's been assaulted in his front yard."

Det-Sgt Hill said police had identified about five other connected incidents that occurred in the surrounding suburbs "ranging from trespass offences through to further assaults".

"It is not a targeted attack, so all we'd ask is that people remain vigilant and if they do hear or see anything don't go out the front, call the police," she said.

Det-Sgt Hill described the attack as a "cowardly, disgusting and appalling act" that had left Mr Lombardi with "horrific, horrific injuries".

She said his family were "shaken up".

"They are devastated," she said. "It's been a very long week for them."

One of the other victims was Mr Lombardi's neighbour, who was attacked at a nearby intersection.

"They came out of nowhere. I was kicked and punched," he told Nine News. "One of them tried to spray paint into my eye."

Neighbours told Seven News of the horrific scenes in the aftermath of the attack.

"I went to see what's going on and there was all blood along the front of the patio," one said. "I looked inside and there's blood and guts inside the house."

Another described Mr Lombardi as "just a hell of a nice guy, grows veggies out the back, brings them over to us, just one hell of a guy".

The attack was so brutal it was mentioned in parliament on Wednesday.

"Attacking an 84-year-old man is a shocking and appalling thing for anyone to do, and the police are looking to deal with that matter as quickly as they possibly can," WA Premier Mark McGowan said.

Forensic police yesterday searched a property nearly 2km away looking for DNA evidence, Nine News reported.

A series of disturbance and damage complaints were reported on Derisleigh Street, Henry Street, Burge Way, Railway Parade and Central Terrace.

Police are now urging anyone who has CCTV or dashcam footage from the Queens Park, Cannington, East Cannington and Beckenham areas between 6pm and 8pm on Sunday to come forward.

Anyone with any information is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000
