Hoping to be hip if funds top $7000
HOLLYWOOD's calling to young hip-hop dancer Eden Zerk.
The 14-year-old from Coolum has earned herself a spot in the World Championship of Performing Arts in America.
Often referred to as the "Olympics of the performing arts", it auditions draw more than 75,000 from 50 countries.
Eden will be doing her best for Australia in the junior hip-hop category, but to do so she'll need $7000 - a sum she's currently trying to fundraise online.
"I want this to be my career. I want to help others with it and eventually start my own dance school."
WCOPA national director for Australia and Hong Kong Lizette Hunt said the championships were the opportunity of a lifetime.
"It can open so many career doors for Eden whom we are certain will bring back gold for Australia," she said.
Eden became an internet sensation last year when a video of her and friend Jeanenne McEwen dancing by the side of the Bruce Hwy in standstill traffic went viral.
Eden, who has been dancing since she was eight years old, also dances in the Junior Justice Crew and practises daily for hours after school at Sole Studios in Burnside.
