Hoon finds success on YouTube
INTERNET sensation Ken Block has lit up YouTube again with his latest stunt-driving video, collecting more than 6 million hits in less than a day and a half.
Gymkhana 5 is the latest in a series that has attracted 130 million views on YouTube.
The previous instalment was the most shared viral advertisement of 2011, with more than two million people passing it on.
The new video has almost 100,000 likes and more than 1300 dislikes, with an average of 60 people per second watching the Hollywood-style production.
The 10-minute video was shot on the streets of San Francisco, with the American taking advantage of the city's hilly terrain to launch into a series of spectacular jumps, drifts and slides.
All filming was done under controlled conditions with the approval of the city, with the iconic Bay Bridge closed in one direction for the opening shot.
Driving his specially prepared Ford Fiesta rally car that boasts a 485kW 2.0-litre turbocharged engine and all-wheel drive, Block performs a number of precision stunts around the city's most famous landmarks.
He does donuts around a pair of cable cars and motorbike star Travis Pastrana; who is performing a wheelie at the time.
In one particularly impressive jump he becomes airborne while sideways before landing in a tyre-smoking slide.
"San Francisco was absolutely amazing for Gymkhana," Block said in a statement marking the videos release online.
"It's such a unique location for this kind of driving and allowed me to do some things that I never thought I'd ever be able to incorporate into one of my Gymkhana videos - like jumping a table top or doing a jump drift!
"I'm stoked with how this project turned out and I'm truly a lucky bastard to have been able to do the things I was able to do on the streets of San Francisco. To all of the residents and people who allowed us to make this happen, thank you!"
The video is basically a commercial for clothing and shoes.
The Gymkhana series is funded by DC Shoes - the apparel company Block co-founded in 1993 before selling out to Quiksilver - and each video coincides with a new range of clothes and shoes designed to match.
