TOP SPOTS: HookUp open for business

REASON TO ENTER: Boyne Tannum HookUp prize a Haines signature.

FIRSTLY my apologies for not getting a fishing column out to you last week as a certain cruise ship distracted me, but this week I am all over it!

There were some cracker fish in last week's paper though, but serious doubt this week will produce pictures like those apart from the big Barra and inshore species, considering how much wind is about at the moment, and it doesn't look like abating until after the weekend.

Saturday might produce an opportunity for those with bigger boats, but during the afternoon and through Sunday the wind is predicted to rise to 15-20knots from the south east.

Then at the time of writing it looks as though Tuesday might be all-right as it looks as though it'll drop down to 10-15knots, as we lead into the full moon.

If you don't know it already the 21st Boyne Tannum HookUp is open for business with their website now being able to accept your entries on line!

The major prize boat looks amazing as it's supplied by Curtis Coast Marine with Darren weaving his magic once again producing a very enviable prize boat worth approximately $90,000.

It's a Haines Signature 575F ( F for fishing I presume) with a 150hp 4stroke Suzuki on its bum and complete with Garmin electronics, registered and ready to go out to the reef the next day, once you fill the tank with go juice!

There are another 8 boats up for grabs all Seajay tinnies from Bundaberg with Suzuki outboards ready to fish as well.

The team have even managed to source a $22,000 camper trailer from MDC which is the major prize on the Saturday evening.

This event is set to really fire and you need to be in it to win it! Get on line and make sure you enter at boynetannumhookup.com.au

The event is held on April 29, 30 and 1st of May and if you want to check out the major prize it'll be on display at the Tannum Sands Hotel during the running of the Tannum Crab Classic on Sunday. You will also be able to enter the HookUp from this on Sunday.

Speaking of the Tannum Crab Classic, my good mate Ernie Vaughan and all his merry men, have really gone all out for this year's event which will commence on Sunday at the Tannum Pub at midday.

There are plenty of raffles, draws, and of course the very lively Mud Crab Auction followed by the riveting Mud Crab Race.

It's all happening across the region on Sunday so make sure you get out and check out the fishing, crabbing, and most of all the eating!

We are so blessed in this region to have some of the best fishing and crabbing in Australia, and all you have to do is visit your local tackle shop get kitted up and even fish off the bank!

The other thing is, if you don't have a boat, enter the HookUp and win one of 9 boats!

Hooroo, Dags.
