Homicide probe launched after bashed man dies

QUEENSLAND police have launched a homicide investigation after a 37-year-old man from Vincent was found dead in Hermit Park near Townsville on Sunday night.

Around 6.45pm, police were called to Ackers Street following reports a man had been assaulted.

On arrival, police and emergency services found a man collapsed and not breathing.

Attempts to revive the man were unsuccessful, and the man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A crime scene has been established and investigations are continuing.
