Home invader charged with assaulting elderly man

A MAN has been charged after another man was allegedly assaulted at Dalby last night.

Police will allege a man attended the Pratten St house around 10.45pm and knocked on the door, abusing the 67-year-old male occupant when the door was opened.

It will further be alleged the man pulled a flag from a wall damaging the mountings.

The man is then accused of approached the male occupant and punched him through the open doorway.

The occupant retreated, shutting the door and calling police.

He did not require any medical treatment.

A 38-year-old Dalby man has been charged with enter dwelling with intent at night, serious assault person over 60, two counts of wilful damage, one count each of commit public nuisance, assault police and three counts of obstruct police.

He is expected to appear at the Dalby Magistrates Court on February 23.
