AN ESCAPED calf has been found running loose on the streets of East Ipswich.

The calf was first discovered roaming around Barry St about 6am this morning.

It was later found eating grass at England St and captured by the Ipswich pound at 8am.

It is believed the baby bovine had been kept on a property in Woodend but will be transported to Haigslea today.

The owner was identified and will collect the animal this afternoon.
