New puppy and baby get to grow up together

SHILOH, a 10 week-old puppy, had her first run in a park yesterday at the Gladstone Marina.

The golden retriever cross poodle enjoyed the park on all fours, and so did her new best friend, 10-month-old Charlie Melville.

On the grass at the marina Shiloh ran after birds flying past, sniffed happily and rested after running with too much gay abandon.

The pair played like they were from the one litter of puppies. Shiloh climbed all over Charlie and nibbled at her ears.

Mother Bree Vandenbergh and grandmother Juanita Vandenbergh thought it was adorable.

Bree wanted to get a puppy for Charlie to grow up with as she enjoyed growing up with two Maltese terriers.

Shiloh arrived from Melbourne last Tuesday.

"Shiloh is the name of Brad Pitt's daughter's name, so she is a Hollywood dog," Ms Vandenbergh said.

"I chose Charlie because I love boys' names for girls. These are my two babies."

On Monday night she was wondering why she got a puppy when her hands were full with Charlie.

"I was up at midnight with a barking dog," she said.

"But Charlie slept in until 7.30 this morning so we all had a good sleep in.

"They must have trained (Shiloh) before we got her because she goes straight outside for wees and poos."

Juanita Vandenbergh said Shiloh was a designer dog.

"She was born in Melbourne and has already been in a plane. She arrived with sunglasses on," she quipped.

"She comes when you call her name, and everyone loves puppies."
