Holidays take arty direction with workshops for kids

THE school holiday fun is in full swing.

With a great range of activities on offer across the region, there's no excuse for having a boring holiday this summer.

Arts classes at Community Arts on Goondoon proved to be a successful activity among youngsters yesterday.

The children made snowflakes and Christmas decorations.

"Some of the kids had so much fun in the morning session they stayed for the afternoon class too," workshop and exhibitions co-coordinator Sue Daw said.

"Even though it's a school holiday activity, they still learn a few things.

"Today they're learning fine art.

"A lot of kids here today have been coming to the classes for the past few holidays."

Yesterday's class was the final one for the year, however, after-school classes begin on Wednesday, February 6.

More arts and crafts activities are on offer throughout the holidays.

Bunnings Warehouse is yet again running its free DIY Workshop and some local libraries are also offering activities for crafty kids.

With SunFest just around the corner, don't forget to purchase your tickets, which are selling out fast.

This year, SunFest will be offering more than 40 activities to keep kids busy.

The Gladstone region has an endless array of great activities for youngsters on their summer holidays.
