Hogs Breath owner Alex Staines to run for the council
HOGS Breath Cafe Gladstone owner Alex Staines will be running for Gladstone Regional Council because he believes his business and marketing experience will make the region prosper.
"The council has done a very good job in extraordinary circumstances but the future is uncertain and we need individuals to cope with that change," he said.
"I can make a difference with my business acumen and tertiary degrees in marketing and management. I have the skill set to be affective"
Mr Staines moved to Gladstone with his wife Sally and two children Georgia and Tom eight years ago.
"My wife and I could have chosen to live anywhere and we chose Gladstone," he said.
"We chose Gladstone because it is a fantastic place to raise young families. The community is great and I can make sure that's how Gladstone is presented."
He said he had put steps in place where he would be able to focus on the council and Hogs Breath Cafe would continue to run without as much input from him.
"I'm choosing to do this because I think I can make a difference for Gladstone and my kids' future," he said.
Local government elections will be held on Saturday, March 19.
