Footy stars are coming to Gladstone
FOOTY television shows will descend on Gladstone for Queensland Maroons Fan Day in June.
It won't be the full show of either the Footy Show or Monday Night with Matty Johns, however both the Fox Sports and Nine networks will film segments of those programs here.
Gladstone mayor Matt Burnett has been chasing a footy show to come to Gladstone to take advantage of the Maroons Fan Day on June 14.
It has been confirmed FoxSports producer Andy O'Brien intends to bring the high jinx associated with the Fletch and Hindy segment to Gladstone.
Bryan Fletcher made his name playing for Sydney Roosters and South Sydney Rabbitohs before retiring to play for Wigan in the Super League.
Nathan Hindmarsh played his entire career for Parramatta Eels and was the first player to make more than 12,000 tackles.
A couple of weeks ago a segment showed Fletch and Matty Johns stealing Hindy's brand new boat that he had never taken out and wasn't made to be used in salt water.
The two boys took the boat out in Sydney Harbour to Hindy's disgust.
Channel Nine has not committed to bringing the entire Footy Show to Gladstone, cited the cost of broadcasting the first episode this season in Townsville had not left enough room in the budget for another trip.
However, the producer confirmed with the council all of the colour and local fanaticism around the Maroons fan day would be covered on their program.
