Gladstone fuel prices are beyond a joke
OPINION: As a resident of Tannum Sands, it is almost humorous to drive past almost every petrol station in our region on a daily basis.
The disparity between prices is nothing short of a joke.
I know the majority of Gladstone residents are behind me on this one.
On Wednesday, fuel prices at Boyne Island BP were 126.9c a litre.

Just up the road, the Caltex has been forced to compete and has dropped its prices to 130c a litre.
Drive 20 minutes and we are forced to shell out another 20 cents, on a bad day 30 cents, for every litre.
It's a rort and it's time something was done about it.
To the operators of service stations in Gladstone, I'm noticing a little dissent brewing in our town.
If just one of you dropped your prices for one day a week, the rest would follow to remain competitive.
For too long you've had the reins.
There are calls for boycotts and, I have to say, I'm right behind them.
Luckily for me though, I have the luxury of driving past cheap fuel every day.
Instead of whinging about expensive fuel, I implore people to do something about it.
Can you walk to work, take a bus or car pool?
Is it possible that you are able to fill up your tanks on a weekly trip to Boyne Island?
It's time we reward the operators who look after our best interests, and force the others to do the same.
Expensive fuel retailers, you don't care about our pockets, why should we care about yours?
Budding entrepreneurs take note: a service station offering reasonable prices on the left-hand side of the Dawson Hwy heading out to Calliope would be a gold mine.
