Aged care facility forced to shut

BLUE CARE has made the decision to close Hibiscus Gardens Aged Care Facility in Gladstone after 26 years.

In a statement released to the media at 3pm today, executive director Robyn Batten said the buildings no longer suited today's care requirements.

Blue Care held a meeting on site today with residents, families and staff, with phone calls being made to those who were unable to attend.

She said no date had been set and wouldn't  be until all residents had been moved to a new home.

"Some residents of Hibiscus Gardens may like to relocate to Edenvale, where a room refurbishment program is almost finished, however it is completely their choice and we will support their decision regardless of where they choose to move to," she said.
