THERE are myriad ways to celebrate Christmas - but you'd bet that few have thought of this one.

Adrenalin-loving skaters and riders gathered at the skate park behind the PCYC on Sunday for a Christmas get together with a twist - and a few flips and tail whips, too.

With a free barbecue and a generator-powered sound system, seasonal spirit was running high - and BMX rider Eythan Lewis-Heselwood was one of many demonstrating just how high it could get.

While Gladstone's CBD may be more like a ghost town as workers leave the region for the break, plenty of local youngsters are making the most of the school holidays for getting out and about.
