Heron Island reopening delayed because of bad weather
OPERATORS of the Heron Island resort have delayed reopening due to the inclement weather in Queensland's coastal region and vast swells.
The luxury resort was forced to close late last month after a power generator caught fire, affecting the island's water and sewerage facilities.
The Heron Islander Launch is currently unable to transport guests across the Coral Sea from Gladstone to Heron Island
Helicopters and seaplanes are not operational, and as such Heron Island will not be open for guest arrivals until February 2, pending clear weather.
The Guest Reservations Centre in Melbourne is currently advising all incoming guests and will work individually with these people to ensure the minimum interruption to their holidays.
People should contact the Reservations Centre on 1300 233 432 with any enquiries.
