FRIDAY:

Blue Care Auxiliary garage sale

GRAB a bargain for Christmas, and support Blue Care Auxiliary.

The charity is holding its monthly garage sale at 2 Margaret St on Friday and Saturday, kicking off at 7am on both days, and closing 3pm Friday and Saturday at noon.

Also, if you've left your spring cleaning a bit late, donations of good saleable items may be left at the centre at any time.

Or organise pick up for larger items by phoning the centre on 4979 4499 and leaving a message, or by phoning Ted on 4972 4757.

GLNG Mayor's Carols by Candlelight

GET into the Christmas spirit by grabbing the family and heading along to the GLNG Mayor's Carols by Candlelight event.

Everyone is welcome at this free community evening, which will have all the churches and schools well-represented, on Friday at Gladstone Marina Stage.

Pre-entertainment starts at 5.30pm, with carols starting from 6.30pm.

Parking is available at the marina by gold coin donation, and patrons are welcome to bring chairs for the evening.

Old time/new vogue dance

DANCE into the Christmas season with Benaraby Progress Association on Friday night, with their weekly old time/new vogue dance at the Benaraby Hall, on the Bruce Hwy.

From 8pm until 11.30pm, admission is $5, and includes a light supper.

All-ages music event

THE Gladstone Tennis Club will host an all-ages music event on Friday night from 6.30pm.

Entry to Lurchmas is $10.

Brisbane-based band, Midnight in Alaska is a progressive metal band featuring five talented musicians; They will be sharing their last show with Gladstone fans at Lurchmas.

SATURDAY:

Gladstone Pride Day

GLADSTONE is "breaking down the door" with its first gay pride event.

It will be a free event providing fun for families, acknowledging the local GLBTIQ Community and promoting awareness regarding those who identify.

Gladstone Pride Break Down the Door will be held at Memorial Park in Gladstone on Saturday, December 7, from 2-6pm.

There will be a jumping castle, super slide, mechanical bull, art activities, food and drink stalls.

Gladstone home-grown drag queen BJ Moore will perform as Mya Fantasy Laydee Bear at the event.

Healthy Active Community Day

GET out and get active at a free event proudly presented by Nhulundu Health Services on Saturday at Bryan Jordan Dr from 3pm to 7pm.

With entertainment by Busby Marou and special appearance by boxer, Damien Hooper, you're set for a great family day out in Gladstone.

Rides and activities will keep the kids entertained while Mum and Dad relax.

Register for a free health check and be rewarded, get information to help you quit smoking and participate in traditional indigenous games.

QCWA cent sale

MT LARCOM QCWA's Christmas-theme Cent Sale is on Saturday, doors at 1pm for 1.30pm start. Raffle and lucky door, afternoon tea, more information contact 4975 1003.

Quota Gladstone Club cent sale

QUOTA Gladstone Club is another one for bargain-hunters - it holds a Monster Christmas Cent Sale at Gladstone Bowls Club on Saturday, with lucky door prizes, cake walk, raffle and much more, doors open noon for 1pm start.

Afternoon tea is also provided - yum!

Annual dance concert

THE lightfooted youngsters of Boyne-Tannum are leaping into the school holidays, with the Amber Wieland School of Dance annual concert.

On Saturday at 5pm at Tannum Sands State High School.

With tap, jazz, ballet and national performances, tickets are $12 for an adult, $10 for secondary students, and $8 for pensioners and children, and are available at the door or call Amber on 0437 239 196.

Beach Arts Music

THERE will be a fantastic line-up of live entertainment at the Beach Arts Music (BAM) festival at the Tannum Sands Millenium Esplanade on Saturday from 2pm to 7pm.

There will be 80 stall holders at the free community event, with everything from food, arts and creation stalls to fashion.

A chalk board for buskers will be at the northern end of the park.

Make sure you bring your own chairs or rugs if you want to watch the entertainment on the main stage.

SUNDAY:

Discovery Coast Markets

The Discovery Coast Markets are held on the second and fourth Sunday of each month at the SES Grounds located between Agnes Water and Seventeen Seventy.

Come and browse the arts and crafts, bric-a-brac and fresh produce available to purchase from 8am to 12pm.

Please note that during school holidays, the markets are held every Sunday.
