LOOKING for something to do in the Gladstone region this weekend? Here's a rundown of some of the events and activities available from April 4 to 6, 2014.

FRIDAY

Kids' Big Night Out

YARALLA Sports Club invites all children aged 2-12 to a Kids Big Night Out. Parents can enjoy some 'me' time in the club while the kids have dinner and a fun night of movies, games and activities.

The kids-only event is fully supervised and tickets include dinner and drinks. Cost is $10 per child.

Action-packed evening for kids

LIFESTYLE Church will host its first Activ8 event for boys and girls at the Lifestyle Centre, 83 Sun Valley Rd, Kin Kora.

The event will run from 7-9pm, with doors opening at 6.45pm. It is themed "world records" and includes action-packed games for children aged 8-11.

SATURDAY

Chaplaincy Junior Bike Challenge

THE Chaplaincy Junior Bike Challenge is on again for 2014. The event is open to students in Years 4-7 who can be sponsored for their participation in the 2.5 hour ride around the Gladstone Showgrounds track.

Prizes on the day include longest distance achieved. A barbecue will be operating with burgers and drinks available for sale.

Registration is required and can be made by contacting Cathy Blake on 0407 622 137. The event runs from 2-4.30pm.

Jazz in the park

HARMONY Park, Hill Close will be the place to be for a free evening of smooth jazz and free entertainment for the kids from 4-8pm.

Biggest Morning Tea

JESSIKA Johnson will host an Australia's Biggest Morning Tea event from 10am-noon at Tannum Sands Progress Hall.

Entry is $10 which includes tea, coffee, scones with jam and cream, live music and the chance to win great prizes, all while raising money for the Cancer Council.

Monster cent sale

GLADSTONE and Districts Wildlife Carers Association will host a monster cent sale with more than 400 prizes for adults and children, a cake walk and special draws.

Doors open and 11am for a 1pm start. Entry for adults is $1 and children 50c. The cent sale will be held at Gladstone Bowls Club, 6Ferris St, Gladstone.

Yoga sessions for kids

REACH Yoga for Kids is a way to assist children to increase coordination, strength and balance, help promote calm, balanced energy, breathing and focus, build emotional awareness and resiliency, promote movement and have fun.

The six-week course is for children aged three to 10 years. It will be held at the Castletower Building, 10 Hayes Ave, Boyne Island, from 10.30-11.15am.

Library Square Markets

HELD in the heart of Gladstone's Central Business District at Library Square, Gladstone residents and visitors can purchase fresh produce, handmade arts and crafts and much more.

When you're done at the markets, there are a number of restaurants and cafes in the area to tempt your tastebuds.

The markets run from 7am to noon.

Get fit with Parkrun

STOCKLAND Gladstone and Parkrun Australia faciliate a unique, community run program that provides free weekly timed 5km running events for people of all ages and abilities every Saturday morning from 7am - 8am at Lions Park.

Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow

THE Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow is back with another jam-packed tour. 

Now in its 16th year, the roadshow transports fresh faced and well-known comedians from the fancy theatres of Comedy Festival HQ to Hobart, Hong Kong and every venue in between in the ultimate comedy odyssey.

The Gladstone line-up features Adam Rozenbachs (MC), Greg Behrendt (USA), Elbow Skin, Kate McLennan and Nath Valvo.

The show starts at 8pm at the Gladstone Entertainment Centre. Tickets are available for $35-$50. More here.

Mother's Day on Q

TREAT mum to a  special day out this Mother's Day at Quoin Island. Enjoy a picnic on the lawn with live acoustic music, relax on the beach or take a dip in pool.

Sunshine Coast duo Jess and Dwight, folk/pop artist Dane Austin and local muso Kate Leahy with provide the tunes throughout the day.

Picnic hampers are available to purchase online, and the bar and kitchen will be open to purchase a variety of food and beverages.

Discovery Coast Markets

THE Discovery Coast Markets are held on the second and fourth Sunday of each month at the SES Grounds on Captain Cook Dr between Agnes Water and Seventeen Seventy.

Come and browse the arts and crafts, bric-a-brac and fresh produce available for purchase.

The markets are open from 8am until noon.

Cedar Galleries Farmers Market

EVERY Sunday morning Cedar Galleries is a gathering place for families enjoying breakfast, shoppers with baskets gathering up a range of fresh produce and gourmet goodies, stallholders, kids jumping on the castle and alpacas happily handfeeding with visitors at the gate. 

You can even have your tarot or angel cards read.

The market stalls and café breakfast trade runs from 8am until midday every Sunday.

Yachties Sunday Sesh

HEAD to the Gladstone Yacht Club beer garden for an afternoon of bliss on Sunday.

With live music by soloist Michelle Plozza from Townsville from 2pm, great drink specials and an amazing atmosphere, you can't go wrong with the Yachties Sunday Sesh.
