FRIDAY:

Old time dance

THE Benaraby Progress Association will hold an old-time and new-vogue dance at the Benaraby Progress Hall.

Admission is $10 per person which includes supper. It is be held from 8pm-midnight with live music from Trevor Gayton. 

Ice skating at GECC

ICE skating at the Gladstone Entertainment and Convention Centre marquee will continue until February 24 to celebrate the Winter Olympics.

The Winter Magic Ice Skating rink had originally been scheduled to close on Sunday, after giving Gladstone residents and visitors a cool place to be over summer.

Evening sessions will be held on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 7.30pm to 9pm, with daytime sessions on Saturday and Sunday at 10am, noon, 2pm and 4pm.

Big weekend of country music

THE Elders Country Music Festival is back with more contestants and bigger prizes than ever before. If you enjoy country music, then this weekend is for you.

Kick back, relax and check out the stars of tomorrow, in what will truly be an outstanding weekend of country music.

Doors open early Saturday morning, with competion starting at 8.30am.

Professional level performances will be held during the night. There is also a Judges and Invited Guests concert on Saturday night, for an additional cost.

Admission is $15 adults, $7 kids and $10 for the Judges Concert. 

The festival, at the Gladstone Entertainment and Convention Centre, will also run on Sunday. More here.

Library Square Markets

HELD in the heart of Gladstone's Central Business District at Library Square, Gladstone residents and visitors can purchase fresh produce, handmade arts and crafts and much more.

When you're done at the markets, there are a number of restaurants and cafes in the area to tempt your tastebuds.

The markets run from 7am to noon.

Intrust Super Cup trial match

CQ Capras will play the Sunshine Coast Sea Eagles in an Intrust Super Cup trial match at the Gary Larson Oval at Miriam Vale.

Entry is $10 for adults and $5 for kids aged 4-14 years. Buses are operating from Gladstone Calliope and Tannum Sands for $10 return.

ABC Open photography workshop

ABC Open will host a free digital photography workshop at Gladstone Library where budding snappers can learn about shutter speed, aperture, ISO and some fun creative stuff.

Get fit with Parkrun

STOCKLAND Gladstone and Parkrun Australia have launched a unique, community run program that provides free weekly timed 5km running events for people of all ages and abilities every Saturday morning from 7am-8am at Lions Park.

Scouts sign-on day

KAREEBA Scout Group will hold its sign-on day from 11am-3pm. Being part of a scout group kids can make new friends, and can take part in activities such as camping, hiking, abseiling and learn first aid.

OASIS Estate off Kirkwood Rd will host a free family fun day from 9am to noon.

The event will include a slip 'n' slide, free food and drinks, jumping castle, jumbo darts, face painting and prizes to be won.

Mudcrabs AFL sign-on day

THE Gladstone Mudcrabs AFL sign-on day will be held at the Clinton Park sports grounds from 2-5pm.

Meteors Football Club sign-on day

THE Meteors Football Club will host a sign-on day at its grounds on Glenlyon Rd, Gladstone, from 10am to 4pm.

Discovery Coast Markets

THE Discovery Coast Markets are held on the second and fourth Sunday of each month at the SES Grounds on Captain Cook Dr between Agnes Water and Seventeen Seventy.

Come and browse the arts and crafts, bric-a-brac and fresh produce available for purchase.

The markets are open from 8am until noon.

Cedar Galleries farmers markets

FARMERS Markets are held every Sunday at Cedar Galleries. The markets provide locally grown fresh produce, various market stalls, rides and jumping castles for the kids.

Come along for breakfast or coffee and cake at the cafe, and don't forget to say hi to the popular alpacas.

The markets run from 8am to noon at 49544 Bruce Hwy, Benaraby.

Sunday session at Yachties

GLADSTONE Yacht Club will host a Sunday session in the Yachties beer garden.

The session will feature live music from Fudge from 2.30pm-6.30pm and drink specials.
