The herbs our readers can't live without

PARSLEY, basil and mint are the herbs our readers can't live without.

To celebrate the launch of The Observer's seed giveaway on September 13, we asked our Facebook likers which herbs they couldn't do without in the kitchen.

Parsley was the clear winner, followed by basil, mint, coriander, rosemary and oregano.

Hannah Huth was a fan of parsley, basil and mint, while Anna Williams favoured flat leaf parsley.

Mrs Mozzy Mozzy also was a fan of parsley, saying it was very versatile.

Jade Butler couldn't live without rosemary and mint, while for Erin Perry it was basil all the way.

Parsley is one of the world's most popular herbs, and it has plenty of health benefits.

From September 13 The Observer will be giving away a seed packet a day to get your garden growing green for spring.

There will be 12 different varieties over the next two weeks - a week of delicious herb seeds and a week of beautiful flower seeds.

Redeem a token from our paper each day and exchange it for a free packet of seeds from participating newsagents.

Then we'll be giving away a complete garden makeover over the following two weeks.
