Under 8s get ready for big week of fun
IF YOU'RE aged eight years and under, you don't want to miss the fantastic Under 8's Week activities being held across the Gladstone region from May 15-22.
The Early Childhood Teachers Association and Early Childhood Australia Queensland Branch support Under 8's Week each year focusing on children aged from birth to 8 years of age.
The 2015 theme is Children's Voices: looking, seeing, hearing and responding.
The aim is to promote the fact children need a supportive community responding to their changing needs as they grow.
The Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum will host three fantastic hands-on creative opportunities on May 19.
From 10.15 to 11.30am, parents and children aged 4 and under are invited a workshop with local artist Sue Daw.
Be sure to wear your favourite art clothes, as this opportunity has a paint component.
From 1pm-2.15pm, take a guided tour to explore the exhibitions during Look, Listen, Hear, Respond: Unders 8's Gallery Tour.
Participants will interact with the Art Toys in Cream: Four Decades of Australian Art and then finish with a drawing activity in conjunction with Reflections of Yesteryear: An exhibition by Marie Green.
Then, from 3.30pm to 4.45pm, Prep to Year 3 students will have the chance to join Sue for a creative activity during Hands On: After School Art Club.
Cream: Four Decades of Australian Art continues on display until Saturday June 20, and is supported by a comprehensive Education Kit as well as a range of souvenir gift cards, catalogue, postcards and bookmarks for sale.
Reflections of Yesteryear will be launched by Mayor Gail Sellers and will be displayed until June 20.
