WARWICK driver Matt Clift says he is bracing for extreme heat when Round 4 of the CAMS State Championship Race Meeting takes place at Morgan Park this weekend.

Temperatures are predicted to go into the high-30s and Clift said it would be tough for drivers.

"If it gets to the temperatures they're predicting, it could get up to 65 degrees inside the car," Clift said.

"Historics don't have any of the cooling that newer cars do and while some drivers wear a cool suit, I don't find our races long enough to do that.

"All you can do is keep your fluids up before and after the race - the drivers do work pretty hard in there."

Clift, who will be driving a Mazda, said he was looking forward to the last round of the season, with several championships up for grabs.

"It should be a good event with so many different types of cars in action," he said.

"I think nearly all of the championships will be decided this weekend so that should make it pretty exciting.

"I can't win the championship myself but two of my clients (at the Morgan Park Performance Centre) can win so I'm hoping one of them does."

152 cars will be in action on the weekend, including Formula Ford, Formula V, Historic Touring Cars, Sports Sedans, Production Sports Cars and Saloon cars.
