Heatwave: 40 degrees and rising

EXTREME heat is expected to spark extreme fire conditions around Toowoomba and across the Darling Downs over the next four days.

The Bureau of Meteorology predicts maximum daytime temperatures over 30 degrees in Toowoomba from tomorrow.

It could get to 31 on Friday, 32 on Saturday, 33 on Saturday and a steaming 35 degrees on Monday.

Storms are possible over the weekend and on Monday.

It is going to be even hotter in other parts of the Darling Downs.

Goondiwindi could get to 37 tomorrow, 38 on Saturday, 39 on Sunday and 40 degrees on Monday.

Dalby may hit 38 degrees on Monday.
