Me and My Ride: 1978 HZ Holden ute

HAYLEA Robinson doesn't know why, but she is very fond of utes.

Maybe it's her dad being a rev-head or the fact she thinks they look tough.

Regardless, she loves them and has a handful.

In addition to her everyday ride - a Holden Thunder - she has an HJ Holden in the shed waiting to be done up, a Holden Rodeo show car and her 1978 HZ Holden.

She bought the HZ in 2013, and has been working on it ever since.

The first part of the project was getting it roadworthy, and next she's getting it re-sprayed to atomic green.

Once all the cosmetics are done, the plan is to take the HZ to the drag-racing track.

She has always wanted to race, but has not worked up the courage yet.

"I am scared of stalling it and having a bad reaction time," she laughed.
