Poll: What attracts you to online shopping sites?

WEBSITES offering poor customer service and high shipping costs are still an issue for online shoppers, despite the huge increase in online competition.

Writing in the Brisbane Times, digital strategy expert Llew Jury said ignoring enquiries or saying you were "too busy to care" would not cut it anymore in the online retail world.

"Customer service has never been so relevant in today's ecommerce environment," he said.

"For example, take my recent toaster purchase from a well-known Australian online retailer.

"I was surprised when it took the company two days to simply reply to my email requesting it refund the double credit card charge it had accidently put through.

"In the US, if an ecommerce website took more than two hours to respond by email or social media to the same inquiry, it would be lambasted on multiple review sites and probably shut down."
