Have $300k and like red? Try the BMW i8 Protonic Red Edition
IF you're shopping for a BMW i8 chances are you're comfortable with a bit of attention.
But how about standing out from those common-as-muck i8s in their obvious white, blue, grey or silver colours and get yourself a red one? It is a sports car after all.
The plug-in hybrid extrovert can now come as a Protonic Red Edition for the same $299,000 before on-roads cost, and only five will go on sale nationally.
Special features are all aesthetic, the body finished in bespoke Protonic Red metallic with contrasting metallic accents in Frozen Grey, while 20-inch W-spoke light alloy wheels are finished in a grey metallic hue.
Raise the scissor doors and you're welcomed by "Spheric" leather trim with red highlights, red double stitching throughout and special edition door sill finishers.
Since its 2014 launch fewer than 100 BMW i8s have found Australian owners, highlighting the exclusive nature of this electric/petrol hybrid which hits 100kmh in 4.4 seconds while having the potential to drink just 2.1L/100km... when being very gentle with the throttle of course.
"Since its debut, the BMW i8 has stood out from the sports car crowd," said Marc Werner, BMW Australia MD.
"The Protonic Red Edition is even more exclusive, reinforcing the i8's unique combination of performance, efficiency and style."
For you five fortunate future owners, the Protonic Red i8 models are available to order now.
